Since the Paris motor show back in September there has only been a few cars that keep coming back to my mind and one of which is the Spanish equivalent to the Golf, The new Seat Leon. With the car not looking to hit the UK until March 2013 it is fair to say there is a lot of anticipation for the Seat to do well in order to knock the Golf off the top spot in the hot hatch division.
The investment alone shows a serious statement of intent from the Spanish manufacturers as it is believed prices of up to £650 million have been invested in order for the firm to get a strong grip on the competition and pull their way up to the top. Not only does this investment enable Seat to invest in design and engineering, they are able to offer 1,600 jobs in the production of the vehicles, as well as three times that amount for the supply chain. There is also promises of even more jobs should the New Leon become as successful as it looks to be.
With the new Seat Leon you will get a choice of eight different models. The basic model in the range will be a 1.2 Leon S which will cost roughly around £15,670 and prices will rise until you hit the top of the range Leon FR 2.0 TDI which has the DSG gearboxand will cost around £22,635. There is some more introductions into the range this time around as well as you will find that there is a three door model available, and for the first time you will see a Leon estate that offers even more space in a vehicle that does in fact offer a hell of a lot of room even in the standard Shape.
Overall this is a car that is set to cause a bit of a stir in the hot hatch scene as we feel that is has all the attributes needed to take on the likes of Volkswagen and Audi with both price and performance setting a really good president for the Seat brand.
