With the current obsessions lying in one of two fashions in the motoring world right now, it seems Porsche have decided to join the “shooting Brake” crowd (the other crowd having an obsession with the eco friendly engines) and have produced a concept car that will leave many Porsche fans a tad excited. Since revealing the Porsche Panamera shooting brake at the Paris motor show this year, Porsche have taken the concept a step further by releasing some new pictures to get heads turning the world over.
With the Porsche Panamera being a pretty popular car by Porsche standards it only make sense that with a few adjustments they add a new model to the range that even with the estate car feel to it looks absolutely stunning. With a bigger back end making the vehicle look that touch sleeker than the original model it seems that Porsche really are quite keen to head into the shooting brake market in order to boost sales within a market that is ever changing.
Not many details were released on if there was a change to the Porsche Panamera’s engine or transmission, but we would assume that the same 3.0litre V6 turbo diesel engine would apply to this model giving it just under 250bhp and 406lb ft of torque. Transmission wise we would say that along with the engine they have stuck to the previous models 8 speed automatic gearbox with rear wheel drive. Even if there is a few changes to the engine on this we can only see them doing this after keeping a close eye on the Mercedes CLS which is also going to be a variant in the shooting brake class of cars that is tipped to be one of the top contenders in the 2013 market.
The Porsche will do well to keep up to date with all other shooting brake styled cars over the coming months, but there is no saying what Porsche will pull out of the bag in order to secure their place at the top with the Porsche Panamera Shooting Brake.
