Aston Martin Vantage GT3 V12

The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 V12 with its lightweight 600bhp engine is now undergoing testing ahead of its race debut in 2012. In recent pictures released last month of the Aston Martin showing off its fierce looks, it couldn’t be more set apart from its most comparable rival the Porsche 911 GT3 R. Aston Martin is the only car marquee that has a car to enter into each of the Le Mans 24 hr classes, therefore increasing their chances of dominating the field.

This race ready machine went on sale last month for a noble 304,500 Euros, but there is an upgrade package available for teams with the current car for 43,100 Euros. The kit comprises of a new revised gearbox and engine modifications to boost the engine by 20 bhp to 500 bhp. Now with the rear wheels being powered by an Xtrac semi-automatic six-speed paddle shift gear box I’m sure the power will be put down in a very refined way.

The suspension is a double wishbone setup with 2-way adjustable dampers front and rear giving it a true race car focused ride.

This beast of an engine will blow the 911 out of the water next year on the race track. And having just being driven on a 620 mile test drive round Brands Hatch by Darren Turner, who has described the V12 a huge step on from the Aston Martin DBRS9.
