3rd Generation Porsche Boxster And Boxster S

Just days after the North American International Car Show Porsche announced the latest generation of its Boxster models – the 3rd Generation Boxster and Boxster S.

The latest Boxsters have shed the pounds with a new lightweight body but the amount of weight loss has not yet been revealed. Both cars are set with a new pair of flat six engines with direct injection technology giving it a power increase. The 2.7 litre unit rates it a 265hp and the Boxster S a 3.4 litre with an output of 315hp along with the legendry 7-speed PDK dual clutch unit as an optional extra for both models. The Boxster reportedly reaches 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds with the Boxster S doing it in 5.0 seconds.

The car has been built on a slightly longer and wider platform with larger wheels lowering the cars centre of gravity. This along with a newly designed electric hood with folding fabric that is dispensed with a top compartment lid. We hope when it is officially revealed at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show in March more features will be exposed.

The car will go on sale in the UK from April from £37,589.
