The Mazda Eunos Roadster was the Japanese market version of the superb MX5 which was introduced in 1989. This Mk1 Eunos was manufactured until 1998 and is widely regarded as the finest 2 seat sports car ever to be put into production. The MX5 is still made today with total sales nearing the 1 million mark – remarkable for a sports car.
The Mk1 version of the Mazda Eunos was generally regarded to be the superior car to the UK MX5 version and consequently many were imported from Japan as grey imports. We were one of the very first brokers to offer Mazda Eunos insurance and continue to do so today, especially as so many of these cars have been kept in excellent condition and in some cases qualify for classic japanese car insurance.
The biggest difference between the MX5 and the imported Eunos is the limited slip differential which made a huge difference to the handling, and with such a light and nimble car, made the Eunos Roadster the one to have – certainly with regard to the earlier models. These cars are now becoming old enough to qualify for Classic and Cherished car insurance. We are keen to offer this cover but it is on a strict basis as we only want to insure those ‘special’ cars on this scheme. Example requirements are as follows:

‘An agreed value is given so photo evidence of the car’s condition is required’
‘Annual mileage is limited’
‘You must have another “main use” vehicle’.
