If anyone out there wanted to know how the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo fares when involved in a crash then this is a video you must watch. The car was being driven at the famous Pike’s Peak event in the USA by Jeremy Foley.
The car is a Lancer Evo VIII which has been extensively modified for racing. Travelling at more than 70 mph the car goes off the road as no barriers are in place to stop it. The car flies off down the hill and basically disintegrates, but the vital survival shell remains intact.
If ever a car was bred for rally racing then this has to be it. Only the co-driver was injured with a dislocated shoulder which is truly remarkable in an accident like this. This is a car therefore that has to be driven by the experienced motorist as it can bite!
