Audi SQ5 – first Diesel S performance car

Audi continue to bring out more and more performance cars to add to their now huge different number of vehicles available. The latest is a diesel version of their Q5 model but in S form – the Audi SQ5.

Further significance is because this is the first ‘S’ model variant based on any of their SUV range, as well as being the first diesel powered S model.

The engine is obviously the heart of this new car and it comes from the twin-turbo unit that is currently found in the A6, producing 313 bhp and 479 lb ft of torque. This in enough to propel this car from 0-62 in 5 seconds and will be limited to 155 mph top speed. It seems that performance car offerings from so many manufacturers now can achieve these sorts of figures, but the amazing thing is that it now includes large 4x4s. Gone are the days when this feat was the sole claim of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

More amazingly the car car will achieve a combined fuel consumption of 39 mpg, largely thanks to the 8 speed gearbox! As with other S models, the it will benefit from larger tyres, bigger wheels, and the usual lowering of the suspension.

The exterior look will also follow other S cars in the Audi range which will add a certain ‘sportier’ look to the existing model, but will be more subtle than other models have been in the past. The interior will benefit from leather and aluminium, with a smattering of S badges around just to remind you where you are.

Prices will start at around £45,000 and should you decide to purchase one (or any other cars in the Audi S and RS stable) then please do give us a call to arrange the performance car insurance for you. We have specialist schemes for Audi S insurance and Audi RS insurance and would be delighted to speak with you.
