Audi Buys Ducati

Finally after a lot of rumours flying around recently, Audi has announced their purchase of Ducati motorcycles for £700 million. The obvious comparison for Audi is the BMW brand of vehicles which has included the manufacture of bikes for many years.

The current Ducati brand has had a huge resurgence with a model line-up that emphasises their sporting heritage – these are the types of bikes we would like to insure using our Motorbike insurance policies. We like the experienced rider and the Ducati range is aimed squarely at this market.

The deal also includes clearing the current Ducati debt, but at about £160 million this is a snip for a manufacturer in the VW group.
