Volkswagen’s New Hot Hatch Car – 177bhp Polo

Volkswagen’s new baby hot hatch, the Polo GTI, has been given a turbocharged and supercharged 177bhp 1.4-litre engine with the latest seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission as standard. Also, it has the same XDS electronic differential trickery as the Golf GTI.

This hot hatch car does 0-62mph in 6.9secs and a top speed of 142mph. After taking no more than a straight or two and a few twisty bends, this car starts to know how to have fun. There’s a plenty of grip when you’re settled into a corner.

The sticking point might well be the price as It is going to cost at around £18k. It is slight more expensive than its French rival hot hatch car, Renaultsport Clio 200 Cup. The Polo GTI is better in terms of quality but as a driving machine, the Clio would probably still have the edge.
