2019 is just around the corner, and with a growing number of eco-friendly electric and plug-in hybrids on the horizon, there are plenty of low CO2 options available for business fleets in the coming year – and they’re better than ever.

Remember BIK Rates

Benefit in Kind, or BIK, is the tax you’ll have to pay on your P11D value (list price). As a company car is seen as a benefit, it is therefore liable to tax. However, the amount you will have to pay is dependent on CO2 emissions and P11D value. That’s why your best option could well be a hybrid.

An economical company car fleet is the obvious solution; and with a bigger selection of efficient cars than ever before, you’re spoilt for choice. There are plenty of professional and economic cars available – from sophisticated saloons to city hatchbacks.

So, without further ado, here are our top company cars moving into 2019!

Mercedes-Benz C-Class (Saloon – Diesel/Electric Hybrid)

BIK Rate – 19%

A common yet aesthetically-pleasing sight on the road, the C-Class saloon is the epitome of a professional company car – elegant, luxurious and powerful. The C-Class is by no means a new car, but it has stuck around for a reason (in fact, the latest ultra-economical Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a winner of Parkers’ New Car Awards 2019).

With the Diesel/Electric Hybrid model, you’re looking at a frugal 79 mpg and £0 road tax thanks to its 94g/km CO2 Emissions. This makes for the ideal economical company car for businesses after a more sophisticated fleet.

BMW 3 Series Saloon 330e Sport

BIK Rate – 13%

For those who don’t want to compromise on performance and sophistication, the BMW 3 Series 330e Sport is a plug-in petrol hybrid that packs a punch. With its fantastically low BIK rate of 13% and energetic performance (0-60 takes 6.1 seconds), everyone’s happy.

Lexus IS Saloon

BIK Rate – 20%

The IS300h Saloon may be a unique choice, but nonetheless it’s a smart choice for company car fleets. Whilst it may not be as powerful as its German competitors (thanks to its hybrid technology) company car tax is low, as well as general running costs, making it a great alternative for those seeking a professional fleet at a lower cost.

Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.0 Ecoboost

BIK Rate – 22%

For businesses looking for something on the cheaper end of the spectrum, the Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost makes great economical sense. With its low CO2 emissions (106 g/km) and price, these city hatchbacks are perfect for getting employees from A-B. They may be lacking in power, but their size and emissions mean they are perfectly practical for city locations.

Mini Countryman Cooper S E Countryman ALL4

BIK Rate – 16%

This plug-in petrol hybrid is set to launch in 2019, combining its 1.5litre petrol engine with electric to deliver power as well as economical driving. With CO2 emissions of just 49 g/km, and MPG figures around the mid-50’s, its certainly a greener option for your business fleet in 2019. However, it is brand new – so bear in mind the bigger list price.
