The AMG SL is Mercedes’ luxury performance roadster. It is similar to the AMG SLK and SLC but has touring at its heart. This means that Mercedes has put the needs of luxury, design and technology on a par with performance.
The car is based on the Mercedes Benz 300 SL, which has been refreshed repeatedly since it was first introduced in 1954. The AMG SL has been through three successive generations in 1995, 2002 and most recently in 2012.
The AMG SL offers unadulterated driving thrills. There are two models to choose from either the SL63 or the SL65. Both offer astounding performance. The SL63 has a 5.5 Litre V8 which produces 585 HP. Meanwhile, the SL65 has a larger 6.0 litre 630hp V12. The extra .5 litres shaves 0.1 seconds of the cars 0-60 time. It is the SL65 AMG Black Series which takes the performance crown. Produced between 2008 and 2011 it has a monstrous twin-turbocharged V12 which produces an enormous 661 BHP.
