About the all-electric BMW iX1
The iX1 boasts an excellent powertrain and a premium-quality interior we have come to expect from BMW. This all-electric, compact SUV is both practical and sporty and is the new lead-in model of BMW i.
The iX1 is powered by a pair of electric motors – one on each axle – producing an impressive output of 313hp and 494Nm of torque, making it quick by any standards. With power delivered to all four wheels, the car achieves 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 111mph.
According to BMW, the iX1 has a range up to 270 miles on a fully-charged battery. Official figures released by the German manufacturer state that a 10-80% charge can be achieved in 29 minutes at public, high-speed charging stations.
The iX1 is brisk and handling is tight thanks to its xDrive all-wheel drive system. This compact crossover is an engaging car to drive, helped by a chassis that makes it feel lighter than it is.
The plush interior of the iX1 offers the latest BMW technology including a curved dashboard with a pair of displays – one for the instrument cluster and the other for infotainment and climate control. A large, central screen is also featured as part of the new Operating System 8.
The cabin of the iX1 is spacious and there’s 490 litres of boot space, with the seats up, including underfloor compartments. The iX1 is available in xDrive30 xLine or xDrive30 M Sport models and in a variety of configurations.
Released in 2022, the BMW iX1 starts from £53,295.
