A Road Car Version of Porsche RS Spyder?

A French magazine, L’Automobile, reported that Porsche are planning a road-going version of its RS Spyder racing car. Also rumoured that racing-based road car will replace the Porsche Carrera GT.

Unfortunately, Porsche cancelled 1999 Le Mans project after their development and designs of Porsche Carrera GT were affected partly by the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998. However, they have bounced back with a new Porsche RS Spyder which won them the LMP2 class at Le Mans in 2008.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, the Porsche new RS Spyder road car with its super-light weight and relatively short wheelbase will be powered by a 400bhp version of the racer’s 3.4-litre V8.
