Due to the rising popularity of compact SUVs, it’s no surprise that the Model Y is Tesla’s latest car to join their impressive line-up. As Elon Musk puts it, the Model Y has ‘the functionality of an SUV but rides like a sports car”.
This all-electric compact SUV is set to arrive in the UK by 2022, with prices starting from around £35,500.
Looking at the exterior, we can see similarities from the Model 3 and Model X combined. In fact, inside, the majority of the Model Y’s interior is lifted from the Model 3, with a 15” touch screen and all-glass roof. This is no surprise, as Musk had previously stated the Model Y would share 75% of its components with the Model 3.
In the UK, it appears the Model Y will be available in two variants – the Long Range AWD and the Performance. The Long Range model will offer 314 miles of range, a top speed of 135mph and a 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds. The Performance model is set to offer 298 miles of range, a top speed of 150mph and a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds. This model is expected to go on sale for around £45,000 as opposed to the Long Range model’s £35,500 price tag.
